Aims of the course:
The goal of this subject is to offer orientation in the system of lower autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms and higher plants. Students become familiar with plants important for man and they will be able to enumerate and recognize the most important representatives of plant families. During practical training they become familiar with determination of species by means of the botanical key.

1.Introduction, Procaryota (allowance 1/0)
a.Introduction, terms, Classification of organisms - an overview.
b.Botanical nomenclature and classification categories.
c.Major centers of diversity of cultivated plants.

2.Procaryota. (allowance 1/1)

3.Eucaryota - fungi and algae (allowance 5/7)
b.The plasmodial Slim molds, Water Molds, Chytrids.
c.Coenocytic true fungi.
d.Sac fungi.
e.Club fungi.

4.Sporophytes (allowance 2/2)
a.Bryophytes: Hornworts, Liverworts, mosses

5.Gymnosperms (allowance 2/2)
a.Survey od Gymnosperms.

6.Monocotyledons - Liliopsida. (allowance 4/6)
a.Liliaceae, Alliaceae, Convallariaceae, Amaryllidaceae.

Assessment methods:
The course is finished and credits are obtained with successful completion of practical training (max. 2 excused absences are tolerated), submission of herbarium of 70 plants, and receiving at least 66% points of maximum from partial written tests and determination of plants (maximum 150, minimum 100 points). The examination consists of written and oral part. The written part consists of a written test. The minimum points which are necessary for to get to the oral part of the exam are 66% of maximum points.
Oral part - characteristics of individual systematic categories and enumeration of the most important representatives a and their importance.
