Aims of the course:
The aim of the subject is to introduce students to the process of learning, nutrition and reproduction in dogs and cats.
 
Course contents:
1.Process of learning in dogs (allowance 4/0)
2.Genetic approach to dog training (allowance 2/4)
3.Ethological approach to dog training (allowance 2/4)
4.Importance of proteins, lipids, sugars, mineral elements and vitamins in dogs (allowance 4/3)
5.Dog nutrition (allowance 2/3)
6.Puberty; estrus; mating; pregnancy and parturition in dogs (allowance 4/4)
7.Cat behavior (allowance 2/2)
8.Cat nutrition (allowance 2/2)
9.Puberty; estrus; mating; pregnancy and parturition in cats (allowance 2/2)

-Ability to define intraspecies differences in companion animals
-Ability to define morphological and physiological chracteristics of companion animals
-Knowledge of biological needs of companion animals in relation to nutrition

Assessment methods:
Evaluation of participation in seminars and preparation and defence of a seminar work on the biology of dogs or cats are compulsory for credit. Credit is compulsory for final exam participation. The course is finished with 30 minutes oral exam (100% of the total mark).
