Aims of the course:
To gain knowledge of genetic variability in nature populacions, its evaluation and use in breeding animals. The ability to analyze the phenotypic variance using statistical methods and to estimate genetic parameters (heritability, genetic correlations, repeatability) using linear models. Apply molecular data in the assessment of variability of quantitative traits - QTL mapping, genomic selection. Interpret these knowledge and use them as a basis for targeted breeding of farm animals.

-Knowledge of methods of estimating breeding values by mixed linear models
-Knowledge of the principles of analysis of quantitative traits and their applications in animal breeding

Two written tests during the semester (40 points). Defense seminar work (10 points). The course is finished oral exam (50 points).
